We’re excited to announce that our Events Funding Referendum passed overwhelmingly. Of the 1,496 people who voted, 1,030 voted YES!

About

You came to BCIT to build your future, but you also deserve a campus that helps you connect, unwind, and enjoy your time here.

Over the past two years, BCITSA has delivered more than 175 events on campus, including pub nights, trivia, craft markets, food vendors, petting zoos, contests, giveaways, and more. These events are designed to create the kind of campus experience you have told us you want—one that brings people together and makes BCIT feel like a community.

We want to keep building that experience, but to do so, we need a permanent source of funding.

This February, you will have the opportunity to vote for a permanent source of funding for BCITSA campus events. By voting YES, you unlock a full year of events across campuses for less than the price of one drink per semester. Most importantly, by voting YES, you are supporting a more vibrant campus community, one that encourages connection, supports student wellbeing, and makes BCIT feel like a place to belong, not just a place to study.

Yes! Each BCIT campus will have events throughout the year.

There will be a variety of events throughout the year. In the past we have hosted trivia nights, contests, craft markets, petting zoos, festivals, career fairs, and so much more. Each year, students will have the opportunity to tell us what kinds of events they would like and we will base our programming on that information.

For the past two years, the Events Department has been funded by a temporary, accumulated surplus elsewhere in the SA budget. These funds are not available long-term, so this referendum is required to make the Events Department sustainable going forward.
