The BCIT Student Association Food Pantry offers BCIT students who need immediate food support with low-barrier access to free, healthy, accessible, and culturally appropriate food and personal hygiene products. All food donations may be dropped off at the BCIT Student Association front desk (SE2-2nd floor).
Food Pantry Wishlist
The following unopened and unexpired items are very popular and will gladly be accepted on an ongoing basis:
- Personal hygiene or menstrual products
- Spices and dry herbs
- Rice
- Nut butters
- Shelf-stable juice or milk alternatives
- Individually packaged snacks

Please donate the following:

- Fresh fruit and vegetables
- Dry goods
- Canned goods
- Sealed beverages (non-alcoholic), such as water, juice, shelf-stable milk alternatives, etc.
- Grab-and-go food, such as single-serving snacks or meals, granola bars, etc.
- Frozen fruits or vegetables
- Personal hygiene products (toothbrush/paste, soap, deodorant, menstrual products, etc.)
We will accept the following food donations provided they are labelled with a best-before date:
- Bread and pastries
- Fresh eggs
- Dairy products
- Meat alternatives
Please do not donate the following:
- Raw meat or seafood
- Alcohol
- Dented or bloated cans
- Unlabelled cans
- Home Canning
- Moldy or spoiled produce
- Expired food
- Half-eaten or open food
- Leftovers or homecooked meals
Before you donate, ask yourself if you would consume this food yourself. Only donate food you currently do not have a use for and would otherwise go to waste.
Where possible, consider food donations from our list of Culturally Relevant Foods.
Prior to any large-scale donations, please email foodsupport@bcitsa.ca so that we can ensure we have both the space and capacity to take on a large donation.

- Grab-and-go food, such as single serving snacks or meals, granola bars, etc.
- Personal hygiene products (toothbrush/paste, soap, deodorant, menstrual products, etc.)
- Non-perishable product returns or shipping errors
- Incorrectly weighed or measured foods that cannot be resold
- Damaged and imperfect items, and bulk ends
We will accept the following food donations provided they are labelled with a best-before date:
- Bread and pastries
- Fresh eggs
- Dairy products
- Meat alternatives
Please do not donate the following:
- Raw meat or seafood
- Alcohol
- Dented or bloated cans
- Unlabelled cans
- Mouldy or spoiled produce
- Food that has not been properly refrigerated
- Home Canning
- Expired food
- Half-eaten or open food
- Leftovers or homecooked meals*
- Incorrectly labelled foods without a visible ingredients list
- Bulk food without labels or ingredients list
- Recalled food
* We will accept food that has been prepared in a commercial kitchen and is labelled with an ingredients list.
