We are partnering with Rhodes Wellness College to launch a new webinar series to help you build stronger connections with yourself and others. These free 1 hour webinars will explore popular topics that BCIT students have requested resources on including; building healthy relationships through communication & conflict resolution skills, tools to help you manage and express challenging emotions such as uncertainty about the future and how to deal with lack of motivation or low energy when they interfere with our goals and relationships.

Outlines of Me and You: Identifying Needs and Boundaries

Do you have trouble setting and enforcing boundaries with people in your life? It can be challenging to know what we need an effectively express this. But setting boundaries and communicating your needs is a vital component of self care. In this workshop, we will cover the following learning objectives:

  • Exploring different kinds of needs/boundaries.
  • Identifying what your needs & boundaries are.
  • Different ways of communicating needs and boundaries.

Navigating Relationships: Promoting Strong Connections During Challenging Times

Date: Thursday, May 28th

Creating and maintaining healthy relationships during the pandemic can be difficult. During this workshop you will learn valuable communication and conflict resolution skills for personal and professional relationships. In this workshop we will review the following learning objectives:

  • The importance of language and words in effective communication.
  • Why communication and clarity is essential when navigating relationships.
  • A step by step tool to move through conflict that applies to all types of relationships.

Balancing Life: Viewing Routines as Self-Care

Date: Wednesday, June 3rd 
Time: 5:30 – 6:30 PM

During the pandemic, many of us may find that our regular routines have become disrupted and it can be hard to find our balance. As we adjust to this new normal, we may find that our old routines may no longer work and we need to adapt and adjust or change our routines to keep us happy and healthy. In this workshop we will review the following learning objectives:

  • Discovering the importance of routines as Self-Care.
  • Brainstorming ideas on what you want your routines to look like.
  • Managing disruption when routines become a struggle.
  • Addressing the disruption that is occurring.
  • Building resiliency off of the times we have been disrupted before.

Roadmap to Where?: Managing life in uncertain and changing times

During the pandemic, many of us may struggle with fears or worries about the future. We might feel worried about the economy, finding work, our financial security and our health and the wellbeing of our loved ones. It is normal to have these reactions to an unprecedented, novel situation that is constantly evolving and changing. During this workshop, you will learn how to better manage change and uncertainty. We will review the following learning objectives:

  • Basic understanding of our brains and how they deal with uncertainty.
  • Reflection on the most common patterns of dealing with fear and anxiety.
  • Learning about techniques to help ease stress and better cope with change.
