About Me:
Driven by a passion for numbers and a commitment to leadership, I’ve transitioned from the world of music and retail to finance and accounting, where I’ve found my true calling. My unique and diverse background fuels my unique approach to problem-solving and strategic thinking, allowing me to bring a fresh perspective to every role I take on.
I began my professional journey as a music instructor, using my music diploma to educate and inspire students. Transitioning into the retail industry, I served as a visual merchandising manager for prominent brands like H&M and Banana Republic, where I specialized in both operations and visual merchandising. However, after deep self-reflection and careful consideration of my future, I realized that my true passion and aptitude lies in accounting and finance. This led me to make a decisive career shift and pursue a major in this field at BCIT, where I am currently dedicated to academic excellence.
As the Vice President of Finance for the BCIT Student Association, I am committed to enhancing student life by ensuring that student fees are managed efficiently and used to support our community effectively. I am also aware that my role involves close collaboration with board members and staff, working together to achieve our shared objectives and foster a positive and inclusive campus environment.
Looking ahead, my goal is to work at a top accounting firm and pursue my CPA designation. I believe this path will not only broaden my knowledge across various industries but also support my entrepreneurial aspirations, ultimately allowing me to make a meaningful contribution to both the student body and my future profession.

Adam Matthews-Kott
Book a meeting with me today: chairtransportation@bcitsa.ca
About Me:
Adam is currently studying accounting at BCIT. Although his valiant attempts to uncook the books for the betterment of humankind tend to take up most of his time, he also manages to have a few micro-hobbies on the side. These include:
- playing jazz on clarinet and saxophone (for which his neighbors love him);
- listening to Balkan brass, bluegrass, and psychedelic rock; and
- reading his favourite authors: Haruki Murakami and Terry Pratchett.
To find an Adam in the wild, one would have the most success searching in his natural environments: rocky hot springs and wood saunas. When you do find him, he will most likely be practicing the art of meditation.
As Adam writes this, he realizes he needs to create a takeaway for the people reading his bio. Something even potentially relevant to their lives. To that end, Adam would like to state that he is dedicated to helping students succeed in their studies while – and this is the important part – maintaining their health and mental well-being.
As the Chair of TCE, Adam is currently working to create and improve the services that students hopefully will use at the Student Association. Furthermore, he would like it to be known that his door (email) is always open to students struggling to navigate the complex system they’ve found themselves in.
