About

There has been a shift in the way we work.

Employers today are looking for a new kind of leader; one who understands and practices the soft skills required to innovate in any field. Today’s industries demand value-based leadership and people with the essential communication skills needed to help companies adapt to change.

The 2018 IxL Conference is a 1-day professional development event that invites you to discover new principles of innovation by leadership, giving you an opportunity to practice these essential skills before you graduate. BCITSA Career Services has developed this full day of keynote speakers, panel discussions, and hands-on practice sessions to provide you with an opportunity to learn directly from industry professionals in management roles, as they help you grow into a leader in your field.

What is the difference between innovation and leadership?

Innovation is often viewed as: the application of better solutions through more-effective products, processes, services, technologies, or business models. Leadership is a process of social influence in which a person can enlist the aid and support of others in the accomplishment of a common task. The combination of these two skills will help you to become more successful in your career.

What will I get out of it?

Like any conference, you take away as much as you put in. Meaning: we’ll bring the knowledge and experience, you bring the curiosity and eagerness to learn. Expect to walk away with a new definition of leadership and a competitive edge over your classmates. All conference attendees will also receive a Certificate of Participation.
