January 10-12, 2020. SE02 Great Hall, Burnaby Campus
SE02 Great Hall
3700 Willingdon Ave. Burnaby, British Columbia, Canada
We are easily accessible by public transit! There is plenty of paid parking if driving.
Friday night everyone goes home. A sleeping area will be designated for Saturday night.
Friday Dinner, Saturday Lunch/Dinner and Sunday Breakfast/Lunch are included!
We're working in partnership with BCIT's Centre of Excellence in Analytics to challenge students to turn data into insight.
Meet us at the SE02 second floor's Great Hall open space for registration. Once registered, your IDs and meal tickets will be handed out. Grab some food, kick back and meet the other competitors!
We'll be rallying everyone to do the event introduction. We'll get a scope for why we're putting this event on, and also hear from some of our sponsors who have graciously supported us in our efforts to organize the hackathon.
You'll have a chance to meet your teams, understand each others goals and interests, and discuss what you hope to get out of the event. We're hoping that when you meet again on Saturday morning, you'll be able to hit the ground running!
We'll be asking attendees to start arriving to meet with their teams and find a place to work. For those participants who were not able to register on the Friday, we will keep the booth open for an hour before the event officially kicks off.
We'll be announcing the official challenges and any prizing associated with the best project for a given challenge. We'll have some time for an open Q&A as well. Hacking will begin promptly thereafter.
Dinner will be served during this hour.
De-stress, step away from the problem and re-energize. Yoga helps improve circulation and builds self-awareness, its the perfect compliment to a long day of coding.
Breakfast will be served during this hour.
All submissions will be finalized at this time. Any team that has not submitted their documents will be automatically disqualified from any prizing or ranking, however may demo their solutions. All documents must be uploaded to our submission platform, Riipen.
At this time judges will go around and begin evaluating teams to determine who the top teams are. While judges are walking around, contestants are encouraged to also visit other team booths to see what great work has been identified!
Judging will now begin. We'll call everyone back to the Great Hall and announce the top teams who passed the preliminary round of judging.
We'll compile all of the results from the competition and announce the winner of prizes!
