Hello, BCIT entrepreneurship community! While everyone is learning remotely, we want to stay connected with you, so we are starting this BCITSA Entrepreneurship blog—welcome!
Stay connected
First of all, we want to make sure you know that although we aren’t on campus these days, your BCITSA Entrepreneurship team members (Laura and Tania) are still here to support you! We miss the Summit Centre as much as you do, but for now, we’re all about virtual meetings and phone calls. Feel free to reach out to us with your entrepreneurship questions—we would love to hear from you!
With so many things changing day to day in BC and around the world, these are tough times for everyone—especially entrepreneurs and small businesses. We are sharing tools and resources for entrepreneurs about COVID-19, so feel free to check those out and get in touch if you have any questions that aren’t addressed there.
While social distancing…
In the meantime, while you’re forced to social distance at home, you might want to use this time as an opportunity to work on your business, exploring any areas of weakness and arming yourself with the knowledge to address those areas in the future. Even if you’ve put your startup on hold for the moment, it will pay off down the line to spend some time digging into the topics that give you the most grief so that you can better understand them, and turn weaknesses into strengths. Once life gets ‘back to normal’ (whenever that may be), you’ll be happy you made the most of your quarantine! To get started, here are a few free resources from the Business Development Bank of Canada:
Free eBook: Social Media
Learn how to use social media effectively.
Free eBook: Create a Leaner Business
Many businesses are being forced to cut costs. This eBook explains the different types of waste many businesses deal with, how to cut unnecessary costs, and how to start a cycle of continuous improvement.
Free Business Webinars
Check this space for regularly updated webinars that dive into a variety of entrepreneurship topics, including: HR, Digitization, E-commerce, Marketing, Operational Efficiency, and more.
What other resources have you found helpful? Let me know what you think! Happy learning,
