Entrepreneurial Mentorship

Your Personal Sounding Board

The BCITSA Mentorship Program includes Career and Entrepreneurial Mentorship streams. The Entrepreneurial Mentorship stream is designed to give entrepreneurial students and alumni an opportunity to connect with and learn from experienced entrepreneurs. Students and recent alumni who currently own their own business or want to own their own business will meet with their mentor on a regular basis in order to gain experienced insight and support to help them meet their business and career goals.

Program Details & Requirements

  1. 6 month commitment
  2. Two intakes:
    1. September 2018 – February 2019 (application deadline: June 13, 2018)
    2. February 2019 – July 2019 (application deadline: January 6, 2019)
  3. Meet with your mentor/mentee 2 hours per month (at least 1 hour in person)

Tell me more about being a


  1. Full time or Part time BCIT student in a declared program or BCIT alumni of less than 2 years
  2. Have an established idea of a business product or service and can demonstrate a minimum of 2 months’ worktowards the business idea; if a business is established, the business must not have been in operation for longer than 2 years
  3. Interested in the support of mentor for business development
  4. Willing to balance school and business planning priorities with proven efforts in the past 2 months
  5. Available to connect with the mentor a minimum of 2 hours per month for the duration of the program (6 months)
  6. Willing to create and work on SMART goals that will drive business development over the 6 month program

*Two months’ work towards the business idea may include market research, idea validation, or any actions taken towards building the business idea.

Mentee Application Process

  1. Complete the online application for the next intake (February 2019) –   Apply Here
  2. Attend the Goal Digger Workshop & submit 3 SMART goals for the mentorship program
  3. Complete an intake interview
  4. Attend the Mentee Training and Kickoff event to meet your mentor


  1. Minimum 3 years of entrepreneurial experience in founding, owning and operating a business
  2. Share professional experience and business development challenges and successes
  3. Demonstrated experience in a supportive and encouraging professional relationship (eg. formal mentorship program, managing employees, etc)
  4. Available to connect with the mentee a minimum of 2 hours per month for the duration of the program (6 months)
  5. Act as a sounding board and support a mentee in meeting their entrepreneurial goals
