Entrepreneurial Mentorship

The Entrepreneurial Mentorship program provides BCIT students and alumni who currently own their own business, or who want to own their own business, an opportunity to connect with and learn from experienced entrepreneurs. You’ll meet with your mentor on a regular basis in order to get experienced insight and support to help you meet your business and career goals.

Program Details & Requirements

  • 6 month commitment
  • Two intakes:
    • November 2017 – April 2018 (Application deadline: September 22, 2017)
    • February 2018 – July 2018 (Application deadline: January 05, 2018)
  • Meet with your mentor/mentee 2 hours per month (at least 1 hour in person)

Are you eligible?

  • For mentees: A BCIT student or alumni who aspires to be an entrepreneur or who has no more than 2 years experience as an entrepreneur.
  • For mentors: An entrepreneur who has at least 3 years experience owning and operating a business.

Mentee Requirements:

  1. Full time or part time BCIT student in a declared program or BCIT alumni of less than 2 years
  2. Have an established idea of a business product or service and can demonstrate a minimum of 2 months’ work* towards the business idea; if a business is established, have no more than 2 years’ experience in the business
  3. Interested in the support of mentor for business development
  4. Willing to balance school and business planning priorities with proven efforts in the past 2 months
  5. Available to connect with the mentor a minimum of 2 hours per month for the duration of the program (6 months)
  6. Willing to create and work on SMART goals that will drive business development over the 6 month program

*Two months’ work towards the business idea may include market research, idea validation, or any actions taken towards building the business idea.

Mentee Application Process:

  1. Complete the online application for the next intake (Nov. 2017 or Feb. 2018)
  2. Attend the Goal Digger Workshop and submit 3 SMART goals for the mentorship program
  3. Complete an intake interview
  4. Attend the Mentee Training and Kick-off Event to meet your Mentor
