Monday May 21 – 10:00am – 5:00pm 

The BCITSA Main Office, Professor Mugs Pub, GearedUp, Uconnect Resource Center, and CTRLP will operate normal business hours on Friday May 18 and then will be closed for the May Long Weekend.

All of BCITSA will return to regular business hours on Tuesday May 22, 2012.

Starting next week for June passes, students on work terms will be able to pick up their U-Pass at the campus most convenient to their work site (Downtown, Marine and Aerospace campuses – but NOT Great Northern Way due to limited staffing). This should help particularly in the summer when the Burnaby library goes into summer hours. This information will be most relevant to students in the following programs:

All f/t Health programs
Electrical & Computer Engineering
CST/CIT
Biotech
CNC
HVAC
Mechanical Engineering
Mining
Power Engineering

Please join us as we raise the Pride flag tomorrow morning, May 17^th, at 8:30am in recognition of International Day Against Homophobia (IDAH). We will be
welcoming staff and students on their way on to campus at corner of Willingdon Ave & Goard Way by the flag pole between 8:00am – 8:30am. We will also be offering complimentary tea and/or coffee.
There is a short  welcome at 8:30, and then followed by some pictures and the flag raising.

What: FREE contest for teams of 2-3 students to float, and race a boat built from surprise materials.

When: May 29 & 30thth from 11:30-13:00

Where: May 29th in Room 110 (Build) and May 30th at pool (Race)

Prizes: Things like Zip-lining, gift certificates, BMC clothing

Nominations are now being accepted for the June 2012 Special Graduating Awards.  These prestigious awards will be presented at the Institute’s June 2012 Convocation Ceremonies.There is only one nomination form for the following awards. A student can be nominated for more than one award.  Check off all that applies.

• The President’s
• The Board of Governors’ Award for Leadership
• The Lt. Governor’s Award for Trades
• The Lt. Governor’s Award for Technologies
• The BCIT Graduating Achievement Award for Baccalaureate Degrees
• The Advanced/Post Diploma Graduating Achievement Award

*Power and Process Engineering students graduating June 8, 2012 are eligible to be nominated for these awards.
*Graduates from the February 2012 Convocation are also eligible to be nominated.

 The President’s Award

• Open to full-time Technology and Trades students
• Stresses high standing (first class average of at least 80%) and active participation in student activities, including ones that have brought recognition to the Institute.

Please note that two nominators are required to nominate a student, one of which must be an Instructor, Chief Instructor, Program Head or Associate Dean. The second nominator can be a student.

The deadline for receipt of nominations is 4 pm, Friday, June 1, 2012.
